How Do We Find Jesus Christ?
If you have come to a place in your life where you would like a personal encounter with the Living God, Jesus Christ then all you need to do is pray to Jesus for your salvation (see below).
If you pray this and mean it with your heart then I believe at this point you are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit (the actual Spirit of Jesus Christ, the Living God) who will dwell within your spirit. Once you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will find you are different. It may be subtle changes you sense, or it may be significant changes, but you are forever changed from this point in your life. Once you have made this decision your next port of call is to pray and ask the Lord to guide you to a church. Next purchasing yourself a bible (the New Living Translation is a good choice for beginners, then upgrading to NKJV when you develop a better understanding of God's word) and endeavouring to read the New Testament (for about 15 minutes each day), is an excellent way to learn about Christianity and renew your mind. When you have completed the New Testament start reading the Old Testament. Finding a quiet place where you can 'soak' in the Lord's presence, then asking Him to speak to you is a must for all believers. Armed with pen and paper you can record all your thoughts as this is how the Lord can speak to many of us, through our thoughts, which up until this point many have just assumed were our own. He can also talk to us through His word (Bible), our imagination (using visions), dreams and through others. God has a calling, a purpose for each and everyone of us. Once we find Him, we can then go on a journey to find what our calling is. God will equip you with supernatural abilities called Gifts of the Holy Spirit to allow you to function in Him. These abilities are our key into unlocking other unbelievers to show them that God is a living God, and is alive today, and able to do what the Bible promises us He can do. Living a life with Jesus Christ is personally one of the most exciting times I have ever experienced in my life. I never thought Christianity could be this way. What God has done for me he can do for you also!
Salvation/Baptism of the Holy Spirit – This prayer is for the unsaved person, and also for those who have previously made the decision to make Christ Lord of their lives and are unsure if they have received the Holy Spirit. If someone has prayed for salvation but not received the Holy Spirit look for rejection against God, or the belief that God has rejected you, as this can hinder the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Repentance of rejecting God will need to be done, as well as repentance for believing God has rejected you, and then forgiving God because you believed He rejected you.
(PRAYER) - “Dear God, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. I repent for all the times where I have rejected You and the message of Christ. I repent for the false belief that You could ever reject me, or forsake me, and I forgive You for the times I thought You had. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Please help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive and hears my prayers. I acknowledge that my own 'good works' can never be good enough to earn me a place in Heaven. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my Life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you, and do your will for the rest of my life. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen”. Pray: So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 20:21-22, NKJV).
